SOME 48 rural health units (RHUs) in Pampanga received blood pressure machines from Senator Risa Hontiveros as part of the program to boost rural health services in the light of the ongoing coronavirus 2019 (Covid-19) pandemic.
The machines were turned over to Governor Dennis “Delta” Pineda and Vice Governor Lilia “Nanay” Pineda through Special Assistant to Governor Angelina Blanco by Nick Soriano, the senator’s representative.
The machines were immediately distributed to the 48 RHUs to be deployed in their health programs and for the coronavirus response in their respective communities. Barangays are also providing medicine as the first stage of assistive health support.
Earlier, Governor Pineda launched “Gamot para sa Barangay” program to provide first aid to individuals with Covid-19 symptoms, as he ordered the immediate release of medicines to various barangays of the province.
Packets of medicine and vitamins have already been downloaded in some barangays to be distributed to those aged 15 and above who tested positive for coronavirus in the antigen or reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) tests.
Pineda said the program is only a part of assistive care. Patients still need to be examined by health professionals to provide appropriate treatment and care.
