APALIT — Twenty months since it broke ground for construction in February 2020, the new public market in this town is set to open on October 10.
The construction of the new facility, which was funded through public-private partnership scheme, is located just some 50 meters away from the existing public market.
It offers at least a thousand clean, organized and well-lighted stalls, a safer pedestrian access, wide parking spaces and provision for public transport terminal.
This is far from the situation of the existing public market were stalls and alleys are dark, and no available proper parking spaces around it.
The transfer of the public market is also expected to address the usual heave traffic situation in the area, as old public market is located at the Barangay San Vicente junction which intersects MacArthur Highway, Apalit-Macabebe-Masantol road and other municipal roads.
