Over 4,000 new Covid-19 cases in Philippines

THE Department of Health (DOH) announced Friday, October 29, 4,043 new cases of coronavirus disease (Covid-19) in the country.

In its 4 p.m. Friday case bulletin, the DOH said the positivity rate of the country stood at 8.6 percent, with the over 4,000 new cases reported out of the 52,064 tests conducted last October 27.

As of Friday, the Philippines has a total of 2,779,943 Covid-19 cases.

Forty-four more deaths were reported by the DOH, bringing the death toll to 42,621 nationwide.

The case fatality rate stood at 1.53 percent.

There were also 3,224 patients who have recovered from the disease, said the health department.

This brought the total number of Covid-19 survivors in the country to 2,686,692 and this means that 96.6 percent of those infected have been able to recover.

Less the deaths and recoveries, the country has 50,630 active Covid-19 cases. This accounts for 1.8 percent of the infections.

Of the active cases, 74.1 percent were considered mild, 10.7 percent were moderate, 6.5 percent were asymptomatic, 6.1 percent were severe and 2.6 percent were critical cases. (HDT/SunStar Philippines)
