Teachers urged to strictly enforce health

BACOLOD City Councilor Renecito Novero, chair of the City Council committee on education, has urged all the teachers of Alangilan National High School (ANHS) in Barangay Alangilan to strictly enforce minimum health protocols inside the school as they start their limited face-to-face (F2F) classes Monday, December 6, 2021.

In Bacolod City, ANHS was among the 177 public schools allowed by the Department of Education (DepEd) to hold limited F2F classes.

Novero said Sunday, December 5, that only Grade 12 students, who are residents of Barangay Alangilan, can join the F2F classes.

It will be composed of two classes with 20 students in each group.

He said there will be four-hour classes from Monday to Thursday.

The DepEd personnel along with the Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office (DRRMO) will disinfect the classrooms every Friday.

“The DepEd should also ensure that those who will participate in the limited F2F classes are already vaccinated against coronavirus disease (Covid-19) and all of them should observe the health protocols like wearing of face mask and physical distancing,” he added.

Novero noted that there should be personnel assigned at the entrance of the school to ensure that there will be no other individuals inside.

Those who are not part of the F2F classes should not enter and stay inside the school, the councilor said.

Novero said Mayor Evelio Leonardia along with the Emergency Operations Center, City Health Office and the officials of Barangay Alangilan already gave consent and certification to push through with the program.

He said Barangay Alangilan is now “Covid-free” since it has had no active cases in the last two weeks.

It was also agreed that if there is a symptomatic student or teacher, the classes should be suspended immediately until the 14-day quarantine period is over.

The limited F2F classes pilot program will run until June 2022.

Education Secretary Leonor Briones earlier said the pilot limited F2F classes is a shared responsibility of the DepEd and the Department of Health.
