Based on the Friday case bulletin, the DOH said 2,961 new Covid-19 case were recorded on Friday, bringing the total cases in the country to 2,843,979.
The last time the country saw more than 2,000 cases was in November 21, when there were 2,227 new Covid-19 cases.
The positivity rate in the Philippines stood at 10.3 percent among the 30,526 tested samples on December 29.
The DOH also reported 132 additional deaths to raise the total mortalities to 51,504.
The case fatality rate in the country currently stands at 1.81 percent.
The health department also reported 481 additional recoveries, which brought the total to 2,778,242 survivors.
The DOH said the recovery rate stood at 97.7 percent.
Less deaths and recoveries, there are currently 14,233 active Covid-19 cases, with over 8,300 being mild cases and more than 3,100 moderate cases.(HDT/SunStar Philippines)
