No fanfare on guv’s virtual Sopa

THE new normal has induced some innovations to ensure the safety of everyone.

The Covid-19 pandemic is still lurking in crowded places, thus the Provincial Government opted to have a virtual State of the Province Address (Sopa) delivered by Negros Occidental Governor Eugenio Jose “Bong” Lacson on August 25, 2021.

The Sopa did not have any hoopla or ceremony which usually forms part of the preparations during regular conditions.

But with the pandemic, Governor Lacson only surrounded himself with his media experts — the Provincial Public Information Office headed by Executive Assistant Charina Magallanes-Tan during his Sopa.

With the aid of the internet, the teleprompter that makes the speech easy to deliver, the cameras with audio that viewers can grasp the message audibly, and with more space to be safe and confident, the governor’s Sopa happened with ease.

All the guests and the public were also on their respective computers and mobile phones watching the governor deliver his speech.

One of the PIO staff’s Facebook account showed the preparation as simple.

The governor’s only role was to deliver the speech with confidence.

The teleprompter just made him move his face from one side to the other to closely read the text shown in the two transparent monitors which were set up side by side.

The venue did not bear any decoration unlike before that flowers and other draperies abound.

During the Sopa, only the provincial seal, the Philippine flag, and the provincial banner were in the background.

Yet the register on the screen of the governor indicates calmness and how organized it was made.

The netizens’ concentration was tied in the message conveyed by the governor.

The whole process went well.
