In an interview, Department of Health (DOH)-Epidemiology Bureau head Dr. Alethea de Guzman said the samples of the so-called “Poblacion girl” have already been submitted to the PGC.
“The samples were received by the PGC and are scheduled to have the run today (Saturday, January 1, 2022),” Guzman said.
“Hopefully, tomorrow (Sunday) or Monday, we will have sequence results available,” she added.
On Thursday, reports came out regarding a returning overseas Filipino who supposedly skipped the quarantine protocols to attend a party in a bar in Makati City.
The Filipina later tested positive for the coronavirus and was subsequently transferred to an isolation facility.
De Guzman reiterated the DOH’s call for all travelers to observe quarantine protocols upon their arrival.
“We really need to comply with our isolation and quarantine protocols,” de Guzman said.
She said this is especially given the growing threat of the Omicron variant of Covid-19 in the country.
“It’s unfortunate that we are really seeing the numbers go high,” said de Guzman. (HDT/SunStar Philippines)
